Technical Requirements for Fire Alarm System Design

To ensure accurate design and compliance with Civil Defense and Saudi Building Code requirements, the following information is needed:

1. Architectural & Site Drawings

  • Updated architectural plans (CAD or PDF).

  • Internal space layout and occupancy details.

  • Ceiling heights and finishing materials.

2. Project Information

  • Building type (commercial, industrial, residential, medical, etc.).

  • Hazard classification (Low / Medium / High).

  • Number of floors and total built-up area.

3. Civil Defense Requirements

  • Fire alarm requirements specific to the project’s city/region.

  • Compliance with SBC 801 – Fire Alarm Systems.

4. Electrical Loads & Power

  • Main power connection for the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP).

  • Electrical layouts showing feeder lines and backup power.

5. Required Fire Alarm System Type

  • Determine system type:

    • Addressable

    • Conventional

  • Required components:

    • Smoke detectors

    • Heat detectors

    • Manual call points

    • Sirens & sounders
