Service Requirements: Emergency Exits & Evacuation Routes Design – Musbah AlAssaf Engineering
To design compliant and safe emergency exits and evacuation routes according to the Saudi Building Code, please provide the following:
1) Building & Site Information

Updated architectural drawings (AutoCAD or PDF).

Number of floors and areas of each level.

Building occupancy type (commercial, residential, administrative, industrial…).

Expected occupant load for each area.
2) Existing Safety Systems (If applicable)

Current emergency exits and locations.
-
Emergency door dimensions and specifications.
-
Existing emergency lighting and signage layout.
-
Information about fire alarm or fire protection systems.
3) Regulatory Requirements

Any specific requirements or notes from Civil Defense or relevant authorities.

Previous safety notes that require correction.
4) Site Inspection (If needed)

Field visit to document current conditions and verify dimensions.
5) Service Deliverables
-
Evacuation route drawings compliant with SBC 801.

Determination of paths, travel distances, and movement direction.
-
Occupant load calculations for all areas.
-
Requirements for emergency lighting and signage.
-
Technical report ready for Civil Defense submission.
